16 Days Self-Drive Road Trip to the North

     This 16-day self-drive journey is perfect for travelers who value independence, flexibility, and exploring at their own pace. You start in Bangkok, where you pick up your rental car, and then drive north to Chiang Mai along a carefully planned route featuring Thailand’s most beautiful landscapes, historic cities, and cultural highlights.


    We arrange your rental car, carefully selected 3- or 4-star hotels, and a well-designed route. Along the way, we provide suggestions for national parks, temples, waterfalls, and scenic viewpoints—but you decide how each day unfolds.

     Day 1 – Arrival in Bangkok
    Arrival in Bangkok and a warm welcome by our guide. Private transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free, or you may join an optional excursion.

    Day 2 – Bangkok (Breakfast)
    Free day to explore Bangkok at your own pace.
    Overnight: Bangkok


    Day 3 – Bangkok to Ayutthaya (Breakfast)
    Transfer to the car rental office to pick up your rental car. Start of your road trip with a short drive to Ayutthaya, the ancient capital of Thailand.
    Overnight: Ayutthaya


    Day 4 – Ayutthaya to Sukhothai (Breakfast)
    Drive north with a stop in Lopburi, one of Thailand’s oldest cities. Continue to Sukhothai, another historic capital.

    Day 5 – Sukhothai (Breakfast)
    Free day to explore the Sukhothai Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site with impressive temple ruins.
    Overnight: Sukhothai


    Day 6 – Sukhothai to Lampang (Breakfast)
    Drive to Sri Satchanalai, with the option to visit Sri Satchanalai National Park. Continue to Lampang.
    Overnight: Lampang


    Day 7 – Lampang to Phayao (Breakfast)
    Drive towards Phayao, known for the scenic Phayao Lake.
    Overnight: Phayao


    Day 8 – Phayao to Chiang Rai (Breakfast)
    Continue to Chiang Rai. Visit key temples and cultural highlights, including the site of the Emerald Buddha.
    Overnight: Chiang Rai


    Day 9 – Chiang Rai (Breakfast)
    Free day to explore Chiang Rai and its surroundings independently.

    Day 10 – Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai (Breakfast)
    Drive south to Chiang Mai, with full freedom to stop at national parks or scenic viewpoints along the way.

    Day 11 – Chiang Mai (Breakfast)
    Free day to discover Chiang Mai, visit night markets, or explore temples such as Doi Suthep.

    Day 12 – Chiang Mai to Hua Hin (Breakfast)
    Return your rental car at Chiang Mai airport. Flight to Bangkok, followed by a private transfer to Hua Hin.
    Overnight: Hua Hin


    Days 13–15 – Hua Hin (Breakfast)
    Free days to relax on the beach, enjoy spa treatments, or explore the surroundings at your own pace.
    Overnight: Hua Hin


    Day 16 – Hua Hin to Bangkok (Breakfast)
    Private transfer to Bangkok airport for your return flight.
